As POLHN grew, I grew with it

How did you end up at POLHN and what is your role?
I work as an ICT Support Officer at Lautoka Hospital. In 2003, during POLHN’s infancy stage, I volunteered to take up the role of POLHN focal point to provide technical support to the POLHN Centre and assist students with queries.
As POLHN grew, I grew with it.
How long have you been with POLHN?
I started almost 15 years ago then I was in Northern Division. It has truly been an amazing journey of learning and implementing new technologies to overcome the technical challenges in order to improve knowledge delivery. POLHN is all about sharing knowledge.
What do you love the most about POLHN?
I enjoy seeing the joy in the eyes of those who receive their POLHN certificates. I love the respect that I receive from my fellow colleagues for the work that I do. I enjoy assisting students and I like being part of this large online health network. I feel I am able to make a difference by helping doctors, nurses, midwives, and other health workers to take courses which benefit the patients.
This has truly been an amazing experience for me.
What is your most favourite memory at POLHN?
I have way too many to list however, without a doubt the social aspect of the organisation is by far the best. In June 2011, I got the opportunity to attend Asia Pacific Leadership Forum on Health Information Systems (HIS) in Manila, Philippines.
What advice would you give someone thinking of being a POLHN focal point?
If you like to learn, grow, lead, and make a difference to the entire health system then POLHN is the place to work. Hard work is always recognized and appreciated by POLHN team.
Any last thought
POLHN has improved the career and life of so many health workers including mine. I chose this work because I always wanted to use my IT knowledge to make a bigger difference in the health sector. POLHN is a network of young and enthusiastic learners. It a fun platform in which everyone has an opportunity to learn a lot
