General Questions

How can I register for a free online course?

Visit https://polhn.org/ or search for “POLHN” on any internet connect device. Click courses, select the course you want to study and click “Enrol Now”.  The easy to understand instructions will guide you. POLHN courses are designed to be self-paced, meaning you can complete them at your own pace.

Is there an app to take online courses?

Yes, POLHN courses are available via the Moodle app. The Moodle app can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play  If you need help, please email support@polhn.org or use our live chat function and our team would be happy to assist you.

How can I delete my account?

You can send an email to support@polhn.org or use our live chat function and our team will happily help you delete your account.

How can universities and institutions join the POLHN network?

POLHN is open to all universities, institutions, health education providers, professional bodies, healthcare organisations and research entities. Send us an expression of interest to info@polhn.org and one of our team members get in touch with you shortly.

How can I subscribe for updates?

You can click subscribe to receive the latest newsletter, POLHN news, blog and latest course updates.

Does POLHN have social media connections?

You can follow our Facebook page, Twitter, and LinkedIn for the latest POLHN updates.

How can I become a POLHN intern?

You can become POLHN intern by applying for the WHO internship programme. You can send an email to support@polhn.org or use our live chat function and to chat to our team about this.

I want to work for WHO. Where can I find vacancies?

You can find current WHO vacancy here. Young health professionals in public health can also join Go WHO programme.

How can I access my certificate?

Once you successfully complete your course by completing all the modules and passing all the assessment, your certificate will be automatically generated and sent to your email. You can also access all your certificates through our digital certification system here: https://polhn.org/certificate-verification. If you are having any problems accessing your certificate, simply email us at support@polhn.org and we will help you.

POLHN Courses

How can I express my interest for courses which are not enroll-able now?

POLHN continuously develops courses on different topics of interest. If you are interested in a course that is currently not enroll-able, you can submit your expression of interest by clicking Express Your Interest on the course page.

I completed the courses, but I didn’t get a certificate of completion. What do i do ?

Once you login to your account. Click on My Profile in the top right corner of your screen, and select the completed course from the completed course list. Scroll to the bottom on the course, and select Certificate download option.

Where and how can I use my certificate of completion?

The free POLHN self-paced certificates can be presented as an evidence for CPD in the following countries: American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu.

How do I download a course, photograph, blog piece or news article that appeared on POLHN?

Most of POLHN courses are under common creative license. In order to download any content from POLHN website visit terms and use of service and creative commons terms of service.

How do I seek approval to reproduce a POLHN course?

Yes, you will need to request via info@polhn.org stating the purpose and who will be the users.

Can I develop courses for POLHN?

Yes, any individual person, universities, institutions, health education providers, professional bodies, healthcare organisations, and research entities can develop free online course for POLHN. Send us an expression of interest to info@polhn.org and one of our team members get in touch with you in due time.

How can I search for previously completed courses on POLHN?

Once you login to your account. Click on My Profile in the top right corner of your screen, and select the completed course. You will be able to see the list of course you have completed and are currently enrolled in.

Technical

Which web browsers does POLHN support?

The following browsers are currently supported by https://polhn.org/

Considering POLHN courses run on HTML5, they are supported by almost all the browsers. However, other browsers have not been tested to support the same functionality as the ones shared above.

How do I verify my email address?

The verification email is sent to the email provided during the signup. The email normally lands in the SPAM box or other mail box within your email. Once you have located the email, click the verification link. You will return to the POLHN course page. Enter your username and password that you provided during your signup. If you still can’t find it, please contact us at support@polhn.org  and we’ll resend it to you.

What if I forget my login details?

To reset your password or username, click Forgot Password on the login page. A verification link will be sent to your email address that you provided during signup. The email normally lands in the SPAM box or other mail box within your email. Once you have located the email, click the verification link. You will be able to reset your new password. If you still can’t find it, please contact us at support@polhn.org  and we’ll resend it to you.

I have registered but I can’t log in, why?

All new signup will receive a registration verifying your email address. The student will receive the email from POLHN after submitting the registration form. Check the email that you provided us. The email normally lands in the SPAM box or other mail box within your email. Once you have located the email, click the verification link. You will return to the POLHN course page. Enter your username and password that you provided during your signup. If you still can’t find it, please contact us at support@polhn.org  and we’ll resend it to you.

Why does POLHN mail enters SPAM box of my email?

Sometime automatically generated emails are seen as threat. We will encourage you to add https://polhn.org/ to your white list. You can follow below steps:

  Click the Ad Block Plus icon
  Click “Enabled on this site” to disable ad blocking for the current site.

uBlock
Click the big power button to whitelist the current web site.

NoScript
Because of NoScript’s flexibility, it can be a lot of work to get the correct results. If you must, use the ABE and closely follow their FAQ and documentation.

AdBlock
Click the Ad Block icon.
Click “Don’t run on pages on this domain”.

From Moodle LMS, I have tried to download the certificate but it does not work?

Depending upon your browser’s settings or your internet firewall settings, file downloading is blocked by not allowing the pop-up windows. We suggest you to allow pop-up window for POLHN Moodle Learning Management System. This shall allow downloading of the PDF certificate on your system. In case you continue to fine any issues, please provide the following information to our support team for receiving your POLHN verified course certificate.
  • Registered email
  • Your complete name
  • Country
  • POLHN course / subject name

Sponsorship

Who can apply for sponsorship?

POLHN sponsorship is open to the following countries:  American Samoa, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu. Visit https://polhn.org/applying-for-sponsorship for information regarding process and eligibility.

How long does it take before I know the result of the application?

The request for sponsorship applications are vetted by universities and ministry of health before its sent to POLHN. POLHN does not take part in academic vetting. Applicants are encouraged to follow up with universities and country coordinators.

How can I appeal against the result?

Yes, the sponsorship is provided ONLY to academic excelling health workers. All POLHN students are required to maintain B average grade in all their sponsored courses. The students can appeal for reconsideration if they are able to provide a valid reason for unable to attain the required grade.

How are students selected for sponsorship?

  1. Applicant should complete the POLHN sponsorship application form and the university enrolment form.
  2. Applicant should submit the form together with the following relevant supporting documents, including:
    • Birth certificate;
    • Marriage certificate (where applicable for change of name);
    • Certified copies of tertiary qualification results (if applicable);
    • Secondary school qualification results;
    • Two passport size photos;
    • Letters from employers (if applicable); and
    • Approved sponsorship letter (if applicable).
  3. Applicant should email scanned application to university focal point, and CC. info@polhn.org.
  4. University vets applicants based on academics (at this point successful Fijian students will need to send FNU a support letter from their National Learning and Development Committee) Fiji students will need to submit expression of interest for sponsorship to NLDC;
  5. FNU sends the list to the POLHN Secretariat Office;
  6. POLHN sends the vetted lists to the Ministry of Health, the POLHN focal point and WHO country office for endorsement at the national level;
  7. MOH provides endorsements;
  8. POLHN compiles the endorsed student list; the endorsed students are sponsored.
For continuing students
  1. Student should complete the POLHN application form (each semester).
  2. Student should emails scanned application to university focal point and cc info@polhn.org. The process is also available online.
  3. For grades of “B” and above, the student list will come directly to the POLHN office (at this point successful Fijian students will need to send FNU a support letter from their National Learning and Development Committee).
  4. POLHN sends the university approved list to the Ministry of Health, POLHN focal point and WHO country office for endorsement at the national level.
  5. POLHN compiles an endorsed student list; the endorsed students are sponsored.

What programmes can I apply for as a sponsored student?

POLHN sponsorship is currently limited to two universities;

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Epidemiology;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Epidemiology;
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Health Research;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health Research;
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Health Service Management;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management;
  • Master in Health Service Management;
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health;
  • Master in Public Health;
University of Fiji
  • Bachelor of Nursing (bridging);
  • Master of Nursing by thesis;

What are other scholarship opportunities available to health workers in Pacific?

There are several scholarship opportunities available to nurses, doctors and midwives. a) Use your real name (if possible)

You can use your real name or a brand name when you leave a comment. If you use real name we will add you as our trusted visitor. No bots or anonymous comments.

b) No spam

Any spam or self-promoting comment will be removed from the post. Our moderator and blog author will allow you to link a report that backs up your statement. DO NOT drop embedded link to another web page.

c) Linking similar articles

We encourage our bloggers to link the articles and blogs to reports. Leaving comments will increase the chances of your comment being picked by the author of the original report that we highlighted in the article.

d) Contribute to the conversation

You can share your view by agreeing and disagreeing however we encourage commenters to back their statement with publications, reports and articles from authenticated sites. No derogatory or inflammatory comments.

e) Talk to other commenters
