After completing this free online physical education course, students will be able to understand:

  • What is Physical Activity.
  • How physical activity is defined by WHO.
  • What are the domains of physical activity. 
  • Recommendations for physical activity published by WHO. 
  • Benefits of physical activity for adults and children
  • Physical activity guidelines for adults and children as set by health professionals.
  • What is "Intensity" and its different levels.
  • Individuals at high risk or special consideration in terms of physical activity.
  • Risk factors and intensity levels defined for different individuals.
  • How you can promote and plan physical activity with respect to common framework within healthcare settings.
  • Prevention and reduction of non communicable diseases.

Module - 1: Background of Physical Activity
Module 1 is basically designed to understand the term "Physical Activity". The aim is to motivate people increase their activities which can mobilize their body muscles so that they can lead a healthy life. This module also presents some useful statistics about NCDs in adults and children.  
Module - 2: Physical Activity Guidelines
Module 2 focuses on the recommendations developed by relevant health professionals. There are detailed guidelines for adults and children with different age groups. You will also learn the intensity of physical activity.
Module - 3: Physical Activity Prescription
In module 3, we will discuss those individuals which are at different risk levels in terms of physical activity. We will also going to discuss the intensity of physical activity for these individuals.
Module - 4: Physical Activity Promotion
Module 4 explores the domains of physical activity. You will also study, how to promote and plan physical activity by using common framework for different domains.

At the end of each module there are quiz questions based on the course content: Module 1- consists of 6 questions to test your knowledge. Module 2- consists of 12 questions to test your knowledge. Module 3- consists of 12 questions to test your knowledge.
The Infection Prevention and Control course assume no prior knowledge of the subject matter, although some modules may be challenging without prior knowledge of basic physiology or pathology.
