This online educational course offers self-paced learning in vital aspects of infection prevention and control in health care settings. The topics covered in this advanced online infection control course are Implementation of Infection Prevention and Control Measures in Health Care Settings, Management of High-Risk Settings, Surveillance, Outbreak Investigations, Supervision & Monitoring. This e-learning course is designed to impart updated knowledge through an advanced infection control training for healthcare workers, policy makers in health and medical services, engineers and architects engaged in the design, construction and renovation of health care buildings, Health Care Administrators, Medical Doctors, and Laboratory Technologists. The candidates are eligible to take this course only after successful completion of a basic course on infection prevention and control.

After completing this advanced infection control training course, the students shall be able to learn:

This is a self-paced and free infection control course for nurses, health care administrators, medical doctors and laboratory technologists, policymakers and other public health professionals from associated disciplines. In this course, you will be able to understand the various components of Infection Prevention and Control. The objectives of this advanced online course on Infection Prevention and Control are to; describe the hierarchy of infection prevention and control measures, disseminate the essential components of Infection Prevention and Control measures in high-risk sections in health care settings, and guide health care professionals in effective surveillance, Outbreak Investigations, Supervision, and Monitoring. Unlike various other advanced online infection control courses for nurses, practitioners and public health workers which may not cover infection topics at length or have a narrow scope, POLHN IPC courses are divided into two categories (basic and advanced) to cover all aspects comprehensively.
Module 1 - Implementation of IPC Measures in the Health Care Facility Settings
Implementation of Infection Prevention and Control requires the highest level of sustained political and administrative commitments all the time. Topics related to Roles of National Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Roles of Institutional Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Key roles of Institutional Infection Prevention and Control Officer/Nurse, various engineering measures and administrative measures required for infection prevention and control are discussed in this module.
Module 2 - Management of High-Risk Areas in the Health Care Settings
Essentially none of the areas in any health care setting are "No risk area" in terms of infection transmission. Spillage management in these high-risk areas needs at most importance. You will learn various modalities of engineering, administrative and use of personal protective equipments in all the high-risk areas and spillage management.
Module 3 - Baseline Risk Assessment, Supervision & Monitoring, Surveillance, and Outbreak Investigations
Infection Prevention and Control is an important component in health care delivery having public health importance. This activity needs to be supervised and monitored from time to time to identify good practices and to identify shortcomings. This will help the authorities to take appropriate, timely corrective actions. Baseline risk assessment, Supportive supervision, Monitoring & evaluation, surveillance of hospital-acquired infections and outbreak investigations are covered in this module.

To summarize, different components have been covered in this advanced course which includes; Hierarchy of measures in the Infection Prevention and Control, Roles and responsibilities of National and Institutional Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Engineering and administrative measures of Infection Prevention and Control, Management of High-Risk section in the health care facilities, Management of spillage in high, and Outbreak investigations of hospital acquired infections.After completion of the modules, students are eligible to take Comprehensive Evaluations test which consists of 10 questions. Minimum qualifying marks are 80%. Upon successful completion, students obtain advanced free online infection prevention and control course certificate.
